From the East coast, our nation’s capitol, to the West coast the entertainment capitol Johnny D has always been active in bringing entertainment to the American people. During his childhood in Washington D.C. he auditioned for and got a regular spot on a prominent mornings children’s TV show. He also appeared many times as a regular on The Howdy Doody Show, in the part of the peanut gallery. Music and entertainment has always been a part of his makeup.
As a young teen he spent most of his spare time after school and on the weekends getting to know the radio industry as an intern at many radio stations doing things such as filing music, writing PSA’s, running errands, etc. In his min-teens he started doing some commercials and air work with the full time DJ’s supervising. In his late teens he attended classes part time at the Don Martin School of Broadcasting preparing for a radio career and studying to past the FCC’s license requirements. At eighteen he earned a radio telephone first class ticket and was on his way in the industry. While studying business in college he worked at several AM and FM stations gaining experience and paying the bills until he graduated with a marketing degree. He worked smaller California markets to middle markets in Arizona and Idaho. His final on-air employer was with KBOI radio and television in Boise until 1976. At that time he decided to go mobile working Denver, the Tucson area and the Nashville area. In 1980 he came back to the Boise area where he remains today. He will always be grateful to three professionals in radio and TV that he learned a lot from, they were not only mentors but lifetime friends. Successful Celebrations is a full time passion for Johnny D. After decades of experience in bringing music to events, he tends to specialized in weddings receptions. Now his wife of thirty-two years, Barbara, also enjoys going to events with Johnny. She is very good at helping out on the sound and lighting control boards. She also loves taking guests’ requests during parties.
